But they were $20 and I couldn't bring myself to do it considering I usually get the kids' shoes from Target when they're on clearance for $2.50. Well, a few days later a friend told me the boots were 40% off. So I went and got them. I was so excited about her wearing these boots in the picture. And they were going to be her black Sunday shoes for the winter. I tried them on her, and she could barely walk in them because they are a size too big (smallest size they come in) and because she has the shortest legs ever. I started to get worried that this may not have been the best idea. But I tend to place fashion over function, so I just hoped for the best. Well sure enough, she hated wearing the boots, kept asking for them to come off, saying "all done" and "no thank you," and crying incessantly. I was one disappointed Mommy when she ended up in white socks for half the pictures. Bare foot would have been better than white socks, but no, she wanted the socks.
I guess no matter how hard you try, when it comes to an almost 2 year old, there's no such thing as picture perfect! Somehow, Melissa still managed to get some great shots. Thanks again, Melissa! Check it out on her photoblog http://blueprintsphotography.blogspot.com/ The post is called "The Winners." Notice how I'm trying to cover the white sock with my hand in the family one!

The pictures turned out great!! I'm so sorry that it was a stressful day. I always get so stressed doing my hair and both girls hair and then trying to keep everything looking picture perfect on the way there. I think your family picture looks great. I also LOVE the pictures of you with Elizabeth and Nate and Harrison together. I LOVE your shirt, where did you get it?? :) I'm going to email her and see if I can get something lined up for our family. I just need to go and find black shirts for my kids.
This sounds just like our photo-taking experiences! Nick nearly boycotts it each time, too! It's funny, though- how some of the best photos of my kids have been taken at random, with no preparation at all. Like one of them Ella's in her PJs, but you can't tell in the photo. Still, like you, I can't make it to a photo session without the endless preparation and stress! Love your photos!
Family pictures are always such a pleasant experience. As long as the pictures turn out cute, then its all worth it. Yours look pictures look darling and I love the shoes you got for Elizabeth. Those are the cutest boots ever!
I think the pictures are cute. I have a friend that sent out Christmas cards of trying to get the kids to be happy. It was hilarious. The truth is... it's so hard to get a good pictures. I think these are great!
I love the pictures! You look great! I love the picture of you and Elizabeth and you would never have noticed the white sock if you didn't point it out. All the pictures are darling!!
Michelle that picture saga so sounds like you. I loved it! I checked out the pictures and they are adorable. You look wonderful...and your family is looking pretty dang good too! The kissing shot was precious. I love hearing about the Watabe Family Happenings. Thanks for keeping us updated. I love you!
I love nay and harrison's matching spikey hair picture. You guys are seriously photogenic (well, being good looking in general helps).
$20 for cute boots is SOOO worth it. Maybe I've been anesthetized from buying $50 boots for everyone every year to get us through the winters in Alaska.
Gorgeous pictures. You have the most photogenic family I've ever seen. What are the odds that you would find 4 perfect models in one family??!! The stress of the day doesn't show at all in the pictures.
I really love the one of Elizabeth grabbing your legs. It is so touching and sweet.
THose pictures turned out GREAT!! Seriously, you guys are such a cute family! I love the one with the kids on your shoulders. SO Cute!
